Rodel D. Kalalang, 4I1BLH (SK)
Rodel 4I1BLH joined our Creator on December 8, 2020 at 10:40 PM (local time).
At the time of his passing, Rodel was the the Club Vice President and co-manager of the Technical Committee.
Rodel was the consummate club member, contributing when he can without expecting anything in return, always putting the club's interest first. He was also unassuming in his ways, preferring to work quietly in the background. His technical knowledge was a big boost as well to the efforts of the club to maintain high technical standard in its endeavors.
You will be missed, Rodel. Rest in Peace.
On October 28, 2019, a group of avid DU CW ops organized a FB Messenger group chat called DUCWNET. Among the early members of the group were DU1ZUB (in photo), DU1JR, 4D1Z, DU1AZ, DU9CA, and DU1EV.
On May 13, 2020, the group finally agreed upon to re-activate the DU CW Net on 7.140 MHz, from 4 to 4:30 PM local time, Mondays though Saturday. DU1JR was the first NCS. Net time and frequency were later on adjusted due to digital QRM nearby, and PARA’s 40 meter DU net on 7.095 MHz. Now, the net is on 7.102 MHz, and starts at 0800 UTC (4 PM PHT) to 0900 UTC (5 PM PHT). NCSes are Jerry DU3GKT and Joji DU1JR, both operating no more than 13 WPM. To date, about 65 stations have checked-in, including some international stations.
On November 2, 2020, 4F3CS suggested that a 2-meter version of the net be conducted, using FM mode with CW tones from code practice oscillators fed through the microphone. The net now runs on 145 MHz from 1130 UTC (7:30 PM PHT) to 1200 UTC (8 PM PHT), Monday through Saturdays. NCS’s are Clym 4F3CS, Joji DU1JR, and, Jerry, DU3GKT. Top speed for the 2-metre net is 10 WPM.

DX3H Morning Net has a new Zello channel
When VP Rodel-4I1BLH's controller broke down and at about the same time he needed to take a leave, the club opted to purchase a new Zello controller and have it set-up at Boyet-4F3PH's location. And since the old channel DX3HSP cannot be attended to, 4F3PH created a new channel, DX3HSPI (with extended letter "I", as in Incorporated), which is now the Zello channel for the Morning Net.
DX3H allowed the use of Zello technology to provide DX3H Net participants with an alternative option for the following situations:
for a participant who is abroad
for a participant who is about 200km or more from NCS area.
during times when the participant is TEMPORARILY (NOT MEANT TO BE REGULAR) unable to use his VHF radio, for example, but not limited to: a. system breakdown, b. power failures, c. emergency instances, d. work-related reasons
