DU3MY CONTEST EXCEL LOGGER
(Excel-to-Cabrillo Log Converter)

As announced on June 17, 2021, the DU3MY Contest management team will accept Cabrillo logs only starting in 2021 in compliance with internationally-accepted amateur radio contest standards, as well as to improve log checking procedures.
As of now, one the most convenient ways of generating Cabrillo logs is thru a logging program, e.g., N1MM Logger+. However, some of our potential DU3MY Memorial Contest participants do not have PCs to run such logging app. Hence, there are number of requests to provide an MS Excel-based log template, as in our past two editions.
In an effort to accommodate these requests, the Contest management team came up with an offline DU3MY Contest Excel Logger. With this loggerr, the participant needs to just input all header data in [HEADER INFO] tab and QSO data in the [QSO DB] tab, and the converter will automatically generate the Cabrillo log in the [CABRILLO] tab. Below are the detailed steps depending on what the participant is using to create the log.

Should you have any issues with the converter, you may email the Excel file with the QSO data instead so we can check it for you.
Important note: This converter will work only for the 2026 edition of the DU3MY Contest. Using this converter for any other contests is NOT RECOMMENDED.
For participants using a PC to create their log:
Download the 2026 DU3MY Excel Logger ver 26-02d. This is a macro driven file with extension *.xlsm. For proper use of the file, after downloading, user can bypass the possible PC security blocking with:
1- In the file explorer/manager, right click the downloaded file
2- Choose <Properties>
3- In [General Tab], see Security: "This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer" or equivalent, choose/click <Unblock>
4- Click <Apply>, then <Ok>
5- When opening the file, there will be a yellow highlighted Security Warning: "Macros have been disabled", click <Enable Content>.
USER GUIDE
This file has 3 protected tabsheets. Each tabsheet has header menu to navigate from one tab to another.
1- [HEADER INFO] tab - Must fill-up this tab first.
a. Identify if callsign is local or DX (International) call.
b. in CURRENT PHIL.DISTRICT: If local call transmitting from different district or DX call, select 1-9. otherwise, choose "SAME".
c. If CATEGORY-OPERATOR = Multi-Op, OPERATORS: field must be filled-up.
d. GPS-Coordinates are required for Long Haul candidates only.
2- DB Update [QSO DB] - QSO data entry tab.
a. There are 2 buttons for time entry options:
1) Live Time. For data entry during the actual contest time. UTC time in military format are automatically stamped after entry of RcvCALL.
2) Post Time. For data entry after the contest period. It is assumed that the participant is transferring log done using manual paper entry. UTC time is manually keyed-in to the worksheet.
b. There are 4 standard frequency (FREQ) options [no need for exact frequency data]:
50 for 6m, 144 for 2m, 432 for 70cm or 7 for 40m band.
If a QSO line has partial entries only, user will be notified to completely fill all blank yellow highlighted cells on that row.
3. [CABRILLO] - After completing [HEADER INFO] and [QSO DB] tabs, this tab will automatically convert the log to cabrillo format.
File name will be the callsign plus *.log extension, which will be saved in the folder where this excel file was retrieved.
For participants using a smart phone or mobile device to create their log:
1. Open the DU3MY Contest Excel Logger on your phone or mobile device.
2. Make sure to provide all required header data in [HEADER INFO] tab. Input all header and QSO data in the [QSO DB] tab.
3. Save the file as an Excel file as there is no option to save in another format in a smart phone or mobile device.
4. Have someone with a PC to do steps 3a or 3b to generate the Cabrillo log.
Note: The above procedure may differ a bit depending on the mobile device OS and browser you are using.
