As announced on June 17, 2021, the DU3MY Contest management team will accept Cabrillo logs only starting in 2021 in compliance with internationally-accepted amateur radio contest standards, as well as to improve log checking procedures.
As of now, one the most convenient ways of generating Cabrillo logs is thru a logging program, e.g., N1MM Logger+. However, some of our potential DU3MY Memorial Contest participants do not have PCs to run such logging app. Hence, there are number of requests to provide an MS Excel-based log template, as in our past two editions.
In an effort to accommodate these requests, the Contest management team came up with an Excel-to-Cabrillo log converter. With this converter, the participant needs to just input all header and QSO data in the QSO DATA tab, and the converter will automatically generate the Cabrillo log in the Cabrillo tab. Below are the detailed steps depending on what the participant is using to create the log.
To download the updated converter, click on the button below:
Latest version: DU3MY logger ver 24-05a.xlsx
We have received reports that some participants are having issues with generating the Cabrillo log using the latest version of the converter in MS Excel 2016 and 365. If you encounter such an issue, you may email the Excel file with the QSO data instead and we will generate the Cabrillo log for you.
For participants using a smart phone or mobile device to create their log:
1. Open the Excel-to-Cabrillo log converter on your phone or mobile device.
2. Input all header and QSO data in the QSO DATA tab. Make sure to provide all required header and QSO information.
3. Save the file as an Excel file as there is no option to save in another format in a smart phone or mobile device.
4. Have someone with a PC to do steps 3a or 3b to generate the Cabrillo log.
Note: The above procedure may differ a bit depending on the mobile device OS and browser you are using.
For participants using a PC to create their log:
1. Open the Excel-to-Cabrillo log converter in MS Excel.
2. Input all header and QSO data in the QSO DATA tab. Make sure to provide all required header and QSO information.
3a. Go to the Cabrillo tab. Save the file as an MS-DOS text file. Then rename the file text file to <callsign>.LOG, e.g., DW1WWW.LOG.
3b. Alternatively, copy the contents of the Cabrillo tab and paste it into a text editor (like Notepad), then save the file as <callsign>.LOG, e.g., DW1WWW.LOG.
The DU3MY Contest management team continue to explore ways to make it more convenient for participants to generate their Cabrillo logs. Please QRX for further announcements.
